Help for getting started with library research.

Library Instruction

ETSU faculty members and teaching assistants may arrange to have a library instruction session to compliment classroom instruction and to introduce these various research materials to students.

To schedule a Library Instruction session contact Kathy Campbell, Reference & Instruction Librarian, by email to campbeka@etsu.edu as soon as a date has been selected for the session. Schedule classes at least two (2) weeks in advance of the desired date to allow time for session preparation. A library faculty member will contact you after you have scheduled a session and will develop a presentation that will accommodate your students' research needs.

Tips for Faculty Requesting a Library Instruction Session

• Be specific about the information/skills you want your students to know as a result of the session.
• Inform the Instruction Librarian of any resources or information that you deem useful for the instruction session.
• Provide the Instruction Librarian with a copy of the research assignment.
• Ensure that the students know the assignment BEFORE attending the instruction session.
• Plan to attend the instruction session with your class.
• Schedule any follow-up library work sessions with the Reference &Instruction Librarian by phoning 423-439-5629.
