The Juvenile/Textbook section of the Sherrod Library is located in Room 353 on the third floor. It consists of four collections: the K-12 textbook collection, easy books, juvenile fiction, and juvenile nonfiction books. The collection supports the classes in various departments. East Tennessee State University also serves as a depository for state adopted textbooks.

  1. Does Sherrod Library have a list of the official textbooks?
  2. The Tennessee Official List of Textbooks is located on the first floor at the Reference desk. A list of the books is also available online at http://www.tennesseebook.com/web_pages/catalogs/Text_Catalog.asp

  3. What is the loan period for textbooks?
  4. The loan period is three days with no renewal for all patron categories.

  5. How long is the loan period for juvenile books?
  6. The loan period is two weeks for all patron categories; renewals are possible if there are no holds.

  7. The online catalog shows that the book I want is not charged, but it is not on the shelf. What do I do?
  8. There are several reasons why a book is not on the shelf. Please report this to the Circulation Department so that they can search for it.

  9. Why don't you get rid of the older books and replace them with new ones?
  10. The materials in the Juvenile/Textbook room are used by different departments in different ways. For example, it would be impossible to follow trends in children's literature if the Sherrod Library did not have older, as well as newer, books.

  11. Can I suggest a book for inclusion in the Juvenile Textbook room?
  12. All faculty, administrators and students at ETSU are encouraged to participate in building the library's book collection. Forms are available at the Reference desk or an electronic request form may be filled out. Book purchases are subject to available funds.

  13. May my children use the room?
  14. Children are welcome in this room; however, young children should not be left alone in the room for their own safety.

  15. What are the hours for the Juvenile/Textbook room?
  16. The hours are the same as those posted for the main library.
